Hecate is Safe!
Professionally built in 2004-5 by a Wharram Approved yard, using the finest materials, Hecate was formally certified as category A (a vessel that is built to navigate the open ocean, surpass a force 8 on the Beaufort scale, and surpass waves higher that 4 meters. These yachts are constructed to be self sufficient in hostile seas.) The rigorous quality of her build meant that Hecate was CE marked on construction enabling her to conform with relevant EU directives regarding health and safety or environmental protection.
Hecate has been certified for commercial use both by the Greek authorities and by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency.
Professionally upgraded for UK and Ireland work in 2011 in close consultation with James Wharram Designs, Hecate has twice circumnavigated Ireland, circumnavigated Great Britain, Crossed Biscay 10 times, spent winters in Ireland, Spain, Madiera and the Canary Islands, and crossed the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Her well documented work with Ross Edgeley and Andrew Cotton have marked her out as a tried and tested expedition support vessel in some of the most hostile and challenging sailing conditions.

Equipped for the safe navigation of coastal and offshore waters with up to 10 passengers and crew
